Does playing the 'rule' card still work?


I recently read a book (the rules) given to me by a friend and while I think some of the ideas contained within it are interesting, I am concerned that if I apply 'the rules' guys I am dating will think I'm playing games. Has anyone used this book and can you add anything? thanks,P
